All I want to do is go to sleep. It's been a REALLY long day and I have an equally long day ahead of me. Yet, instead of drifting happily off to dreamland I'm here, writing words. Why, you ask? Why do I subject myself to such torture? Because I vowed to do BEDA, and I don't give up on my goals very easily.
It's funny, cause earlier today I had a great idea for this miscellaneous Monday, but whatever that idea was has completely slipped from my mind. It's probably off playing with all the ideas I had for those stories I never bothered to finish. They're all having a jolly time running around and laughing at my idea-less existence. If only I could wrangle them up and put them to work. I imagine this blog would be much more interesting for everyone involved if I could do that. Of course I can't, so I'm going to settle for some simple blogging instead.
Today I went to Universal with Amber and Lauren. It was an interesting experience for me. As I walked around with them I realized how commonplace the entire resort had become to me. I knew where to go without looking, I could avoid the crowds instinctively, and I knew what rides to hit when to make sure we could get as much done as possible. I also noticed that I didn't pay as much attention to the little things anymore. I didn't read the things in line like I used to, been there, done that. I also got frustrated by 30 minute waits, being there in slow season spoiled me. Seeing it through their eyes reminded me of all of the things I'd forgotten were so amazing. I was able to recapture a bit of that wonder.
I started to think about why I'd lost it in the first place. It wasn't like I was tired of the park, I still choose to go there on my days off. I didn't think any of it was dumb or boring, it was just...home. It's like how you never notice the things on the shelves in your house cause they've always been there. Sure, they mean something to you, but you don't study them and think about those things everyday. That's how I feel about Universal. The park is wonderful and it means something to me, but in the day to day I don't pay too much attention to what's on the shelf. I use the shelf for the things I need and move on. I live there, it's home, and nothing about home is terribly exciting.
For Amber and Lauren, however, everything was new. The park was filled with shiny objects and they were excited to explore every single one. The knick knacks that had been sitting on my shelf forever (metaphorically speaking) where sparkling and new and exciting to them. The best part is that the excitement is contageous. Once they got excited I would also get excited. I let their energy feed me until I could pretend that I was experiencing everything for the first time as well. With that attitude a fun day in the park became and amazing day with friends.
Until tomorrow.

July 2nd
Since yesterday was taking up by some flash fiction I decided to spend today going over June goals and July goals. Maybe I'll do some other discussions and talking and random chatting, one can never be sure with me can they? But, we'll start with goals.
June Goals
1) Write 750 words (check)
2) Post one video on each channel (just barely, check)
3) Save $200 (failure, but I'm not being too hard on myself, there was stuff)
4) Make one music video shot list (oops)
5) Figure out living situation (It was a bit rocky, but I've got a place now)
6) Read a book (A long fanfiction AND a choose your own adventure book)
7) Figure out Ascendio AV (all set and locked away)
8) Make everything ready for Ascendio (Everything I have to do is locked and loaded)
9) Spend less than $400 on credit card (hahahahahahaha, pipe dream)
10) Keep up with YouTube/Hulu/Magazines (check)
June total 7/10. Not too shabby, but some of those have been on there for months and I really ought to be a little farther along I think. Of course the month is over so there's no use beating myself up about any of it now. Gotta move on to bigger and better and more exciting things.
July Goals
1) Post one video on each channel
2) Write 750 words a day
3) Completely set up my living space (have NOTHING boxed)
4) Vacuum at least once every other week
5) Spend less than $500 on credit card and save $200
6) Figure out costume for Celebration VI
7) Post one piece of writing on Figment for public consumption
8) Shot list two music videos
9) Shoot Fall In Love Tonight Video
10) Write out story arc for Heroes and Sidekicks Institute
I also want to mention something else that's going to change for July. Since I got involved in Figment (like a week ago), I discovered they do something called Daily Themes, these are basically writing prompts that get your creativity flowing. I'm not going to use all of them, but when I find on that strikes my interest I'll use it that day. That means that little snippets of fiction might invade my other daily post themes. Generally I'll be sticking to the schedule we've come to know and love, but I just wanted to prepare you for the possibility of changes.
Now that the business stuff is out of the way I want to talk a little bit about my life, which is my right on the lovely Miscellaneous Mondays. Getting a new apartment in July has been a bit of an adventure (that's putting it nicely), and the place and time and people have flipped and flopped, but now we're finally settled. Well, at least I hope we are because I paid them money and I don't want that to be for nothing. We're still moving to a three bedroom, my friend Amber is still moving in with us, it's just the time of the move and the place we're moving to that's changing. Now we're moving to a closer building, to the second floor, and not until July 15th. This is a bit of a bummer cause it's sorta during Ascendio, but I'm dealing with it. I'm sure I'll be plenty happy once we actually move, but getting there is a bit frustrating.
Lena arrives tomorrow, and I'm incredibly excited! I'd hoped to have a new place and a room for her, but I think we'll be fine the way things are. I've missed her and I can't wait to have her hanging around. It's a bit of a bummer that I'll be spending most (if not all) of my not at Ascendio time working like a crazy person, but that's the price to be paid. Lena's graciously agreed to help me with a couple of short silly projects, so hopefully YouTube will see the fruits of that labor sometime this month. Lena also has a lot on her plate so I imagine that most of our crazy adventures will be post Ascendio. I'm cool with that though, cause honestly I don't have enough time in my life to do anything before Ascendio.
I feel that I should mention something else that I know you're probably sick of hearing, but since I'll never get sick of telling it, I LOVE MY JOB! The simple truth is that, while I may not get paid much, I can survive on what I get paid, I enjoy what I do, and I adore the people I work with. That's right, I actually enjoy people coming and complaining to me. I like it when people come in pissed and leave smiling, I like that I made them that way, and I'm utterly fascinated by what people complain about. I could spend my entire life just watching people and studying the way they react to things. I never get tired of it. Plus, and this is the best part, I learn a lot of names. Everyone who's been around when I write knows I hate naming characters, so I've been stocking up on the interesting names I hear at work. Mixing and matching first and last names, and mentioning to guests that I like their names and might use it for a character. I swear I'll have dedicate all my books to Guests At Universal Orlando. Life is good.
Until tomorrow.

June 11th
I've been debating between writing about Sylvia more or perhaps more flash fiction. You'd figure I would have made this decision before I sat down to type, but that would just make sense, and I'm not really one for making sense. I still have a bunch of 750 words to catch up on, but I'll deal with that at another time. For now I'll just worry about the words for today. I'll just pick another picture and write a story.
Every time they look at me I can feel what they're thinking. They edge away from me, take the long way so they don't have to cross my path. Every single one of them is terrified of me. Worried that what I am, what I can do, is contagious. Mother's pull away their children and more than once a restaurant or store has turned down my money. Even the churches, supposedly places of peace and solace, have refused me entry. I wish I cared as little as I tell people I do. I wish that it didn't burn a hole in my chest each time someone who used to be my friend makes a quick excuse not to see me, or avoids my phone calls, or turns the other way on the street.
They say I bring half of it on myself, dressing the way that I do. They say that if I didn't look like some vampiric princess; all black dresses and red lips, that people might actually get over all the rest. They forget, or want me to, that when this all started I didn't dress this way. When it all began two years ago, I wore jeans and t-shirts like everyone else. I didn't change my clothes until the whispers began, until best friends were suddenly always busy, until the first day "Witch" was spray painted on my locker. That's when I figured that I might as well look the part, since people were going to treat me that way regardless. At first I relished in the way they looked at me, the little spark of fear in their eyes, it served them right for turning their backs on me. Now, I'm just too tired to care. Even Mother barely speaks to me, and when she does she refuses to acknowledge the existence of all the rest. She pretends that I'm just a normal teenage girl, acting out by wearing Gothic clothing, even though we both know I'm anything but normal.
When Stacy died I thought my heart would never mend. It didn't matter to me that I was adopted, that we weren't sisters by blood, I loved her more than anything. At first I was angry that she left me with Mother, who looked at me strangely even back then, but as the days went by anger faded into sadness. I didn't move from my bed for weeks, couldn't even go to the funeral. I refused to accept that Stacy was really gone. I'd spend my nights dreaming that I went to that party with her, that I drove home when she got drunk, that we made it safely to our beds, that she awoke the next morning with nothing more serious than a hangover. When I finally reached the point that I could accept that Stacy was gone, she came to me.
The first time it happened I was in my room. It was late at night and the glimpse of her I got in the mirror was obviously my mind playing tricks on me. I didn't think much of it until the trick repeated the next morning. When she was staring me down, pale and winged, in the middle of the school playground, I finally had to acknowledge that what I was seeing was real. I was thrilled beyond belief, so thrilled that I made the worst mistake of my life; I told someone. I was so happy to have Stacy back that I didn't think twice about sharing what I'd found, and once I acknowledged Stacy, they all started coming. Soon I met more of the dead while walking to school than I did the living.
I can feel Stacy's arms around my shoulders right now. She's telling me that I'm doing good, that I'm helping those who are dead. I try to believe that, and a part of me does believe that, but another part of me fights it. That part of me remembers what life was like before I saw them, the happiness I had, and misses it. The price for keeping Stacy has been the lose of every living friend I ever had. Yet, as I look at her face, and the happy faces of those around her, I realize it's a price I'm willing to pay. After all, these are friends I'll have for eternity.

June 4th
There is a list about as long as my arm of stuff
that I need to be doing, but I'm just tired and I want to write my 750
words and go to sleep. The list will just have to sort itself out later.
It will, I have faith in my abilities, but it's not happening right
now.
While I procrastinate on all that I guess I'll try and entertain you with my remaining 600 or so words. Well, perhaps bore you into mindless submission might be be a more accurate description. But you must read this for a reason, so I'll just have to continue to hope that you enjoy my dry wit and my fantastic grasp of the narrative language. That or this blog is so terrible that reading it is similar to watching a car crash, it's bad for you but you just can't help yourself. Leave me a comment and let me know which way you feel.
Now that I've sufficiently padded my word count with an ample amount of content-less fluff, I guess I'll move on to things you might actually want me to talk about, like work and this wedding that I went to yesterday. Or I could continue with nonsense until you quit reading it and then proceed to repeat a single word over and over to reach 750 because I know that no one is actually paying attention anyway...but I would never do that. I value you too much as a reader...I promise...for now.
Yesterday was the wedding of my apartmate Sara to her boyfriend/fiance/crush Chris. The ceremony was outside in a lovely park, and the reception was just across the way in a different, but equally lovely, park. The wedding was very DIY, with Chris and Sara (and Meg and I a bit) doing everything from decorating the venue, to making the cake, to arranging the flowers, to creating all the centerpieces and more. I was Maid of Honor (wearing a dress I got to pick myself, which was wonderful of Sara), so I had quite a list of duties day of. It might have been a little insane, but I wouldn't have changed a minute of it.
Beginning at 8am Sara and I went out to the parks to set up everything. We (with help from Sara's family when they arrived) rearranged the picnic tables in the pavilion, swept the area, decorated the ceiling with hanging paper flowers, curly paper vines, and lots of draping fabric. We also covered the tables with the rented cloths and laid out all the centerpieces and cameras and props. We got the food and gift tables ready to be filled when the time arrived and then headed over to the actual ceremony space. Over there we set up chairs, hung fabric for an aisle, and arranged items on the small stage where the ceremony would take place. Then it was time to vacate the premises so that Chris could come in and do his part of the setup (he of course wasn't allowed to see Sara).
We returned to the apartment where it was time to get hair and makeup done by one of Sara's friends. I was the lucky girl who got to go first because there were some other things that I needed to handle before the wedding began. I got my hair braided and curled, put on my dress, let Meg convince me to wear eye shadow, and then headed out to drive Chris to the hotel where he was supposed to change. After he felt prepared we headed over to the park to make the final preparations (like setting out drinks and ice and food) before Sara and the rest of the wedding guests arrived. Once everything was finally set it was time for the actual ceremony to begin.
The wedding, which began around 4:30, was simple and beautiful. We walked down the aisle and then the wedding party sat in the front row while Chris and Sara exchanged rings and vows and bows. Sara looked absolutely stunning and everyone cried. Once the recessional was finished it was time for everyone to make quick work of cleaning up the ceremony site and loading up the chairs. Then the guests headed over to the reception area (now complete with food and cake) while the wedding party wandered the park and took hundreds of lovely photos. I can't wait to see how they all turn out because I believe they will be quite stunning.
When picture taking was over the newly wedded couple were presented at the reception. There was a lot of cheering, a lot of toasting, a fair bit of kissing, and truly incredible amount of cake. Everyone had a wonderful time and it was truly a place of extreme happiness. After people started to say their goodbyes it was time to clean up the reception area and pack everything away to bring back to the apartment. By the time I arrived home (alone, as the wedded couple had other engagements) and unpacked it was about 10pm. All in all it was a day well spent.
Now I'm not saying that the wedding went flawlessly. Like any event it had it's share of hiccups, but we handled them all. The truth is that when it comes to the nitty gritty of getting things done when it all seems to be falling apart, that's where I excel. I love the rush of running around and doing a hundred different things to make sure that whatever is going on is the best it can be. That's what I want to do with my life, and I wouldn't have changed a thing about the day even if I could. Besides, as I was fond of reminding everyone yesterday, as long as the wedding has a bride, a groom, and an officiator it's a success; everything else is just bonus. Well, except maybe cake, for me cake is as necessary as any other element.
Until tomorrow.

May 28th
It's time for Miscellaneous Mondays! That means you're stuck here reading whatever I feel like writing, and it could be ANYTHING. Well, technically I suppose you aren't stuck, you can click away any time you want. I just like to hope you find yourself drawn in by my intriguing prose and then you stay to read a riveting post on a subject I haven't even decided on yet. I know that this is a false hope, and that likely you have already clicked to a new page and never even made it to these words, which is a bummer because the post is about to get awesome...or I'm just lying to you.
Quite honestly I'm incredibly tired and I'm finding it hard to keep my eyes open. I just want to curl up and go to sleep, which wouldn't actually be a bad thing, but it is a little early for that. I'm afraid that if I fall asleep now I'll wake up before tomorrow and then I'll be tired at work tomorrow. Speaking of work, I had day four of training today, and it was just as awesome as the other three days. I feel like I'm really understanding the process and I can't wait to actually start working. Of course there are still six days of training before they push me out of the nest to fly (or fall) on my own. I'm hoping that I can fly.
Then I came home, unpacked my stuff from work, and sat down to get my daily YouTube watching out of the way. I'm completely caught up on all my subscriptions and that makes me incredibly happen. I love commenting on videos in a timely manner, making video responses, and getting inspired to make videos of my own. I've actually made four videos this month (two for my personal channel and two for my collab channel), and I have another video shot that is just gonna take some editing time. I'm hoping to get around to it before June starts. It's nice to feel like part of the YouTube community again. I have fun doing it, and I think I forgot that for awhile.
I'm also thinking seriously about food, but I know that if I eat I won't be as sleepy and I really should get some sleep. My nose is all stuffy and I've been sneezing almost constantly so I think rest would be recommended. Of course then there's the fact that my stomach is going to growl just a little, and that isn't good either. I might have to settle for a light snack to hold me over till the morning. Of course my snacky foods are all in the mostly unhealthy category, not that I'm trying to eat totally healthy, but it's always a bummer to only eat something unhealthy.
I still have almost three hundred words to write and my exhausted brain is having trouble coming up with ideas. I suppose I could write some flash fiction. I make no promises or apologies when it comes to the quality of the piece I'm about to write for you.

"Grab it, quick!" Jilly reached out lightening fast and caught the teddy bear as it plummeted towards the bedroom floor. Jamie looked over the edge of the top bunk and sighed in relief.
"You have to be more careful, Jamie." Jilly said as she leaned out of her bunk and reached the bear up to Jamie's waiting hands. He hugged the bear securely to his chest.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Jamie said. He lay down on his bed and hung his head over the edge to look as his sister. Jilly had a pile of books spread out in front of her and was taking notes on a sleek silver tablet. She patted the top of Jamie's head.
"I know you didn't mean to, buddy. But I might not be here next time, so you're gonna have to make sure to keep everything on your bed or in your drawers." She motioned to the dresser that was hooked to the wall by his bed, positioned to be easily reachable from when he lay now.
"Someday I want to play on the floor." Jamie said with a bit of a pout. Jilly looked at the laser grid on their bedroom floor, created to slice and dice anything that landed there. Then she looked back at the schematics and layouts on her tablet.
"Someday, Jamie, you will."
May 21st
Forget current events. I'm sick of them, I don't really care, and as Zefrank is fond of saying, they aren't even current anyway; they already happened. In light of this incredible insight I've decided to turn Mondays into Miscellaneous Mondays, they day where I can feel free to write about anything I want. If I want to write more fiction, I can. If I want to do another review, I can. If I want to rant or rave or just plain blog, I can. If I want to do something totally different, I can. And if rather than sticking to a theme I just want to write 750 words that have no substance and take very little thought, I can. Feel that? That's a weight lifting off my chest as Mondays become about freedom and expression. I think I need a day like that to keep me going.
Tomorrow is my first day at Guest Services, and because of training, I won't be able to attend Dungeons and Dragons. This makes me truly sad as it is something that I look forward to every week, but the new job is important to me. As a result I won't have a campaign journal for tomorrow, so Riley will instead have to tell you about some past adventure. What that is I can't be quite sure. However, today I want to share with you what I'm emailing to my fellow adventures, so that they know what to do with my character while I'm gone.
********************************
It seems to me that the black bands that the bandits wear allow them to gain entrance to the cave, and our best bet of securing all that it holds is to infiltrate their ranks. However, I'm not sure how well they know each other and if some of us merely walk in with arm bands they might be suspicious, not to mention someone might recognize us from the battle with the cave troll. That is why I've come up with a plan of action.
I'm not the best at sneaking or lying, so giving one of the four armbands to me would be a waste. My strength, and my part in this plan, lie elsewhere. I would suggest that the armbands are given to our cleverest sneaks; Stealthlina, Foxface, and The Dread Pirate Roberts. If someone other than Milk (who is already known) wants to wear the other armband than they need to prove they can sneak in and bluff their way into the organization. Still, as I said before, walking right in isn't really an option. That's where my role in the plan comes in.
I will take my axe, build up my anger, and rush the cave alone. The ensuing chaos should allow those with the armbands to easily enter the camp and seamlessly become part of the operation. I've seen the way their leader acts, it is likely he'll keep me alive for sport. If it seems that I am to be killed, this piece of paper should be presented. It's a wanted poster that shows my likeness and offers 1,000 gold for my capture alive. Never you mind where it came from. That should convince him I'm better off breathing.
Once the sneaks have become part of the camp they can work it from the inside. I imagine within a day or two we should know enough to be able to take the camp. Then all you need is a well placed key, a simple signal, and our small fighting force should be able to take them completely unaware.
(Mallory's notes, this seemed like a plan Riley would approve of, and it gets her out of the way since she won't be involved in battle this week. Megan has told me that it's likely Rouge would go wandering off into the forest after some small creature. I think that fits with her character just as well).

Hopefully they're able to make use of my strategy, but I honestly probably won't know until I join them again in a week. When that time comes I'll catch up my journal and you'll be able to find out what really happened.
Aside from getting excited for my guest service job, today was spent at home. I developed a lineup for the Wrock Event at Ascendio. Now all it needs is a name and we're good to go. I also cancelled the magazines I don't read. And I played Portal 2 with my brother. We have a lot of fun playing together and I swear that each level is a lesson in how we solve the puzzles NOT in the way they're meant to be solved. Of course that's what makes it so fun. Until tomorrow.
